The Pen is Mightier than the Sword Ministries is a Christ-centered nonprofit built on a simple conviction: words, put to work, can feed people. We exist to grow heartfelt compassion and real service inside our community.
We meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Donations and proceeds are allocated entirely to community support, which is how we uplift the people in front of us and keep a spirit of generosity and love moving through this work.
The ministry is led by Michael G. Topping, who uses his God-given talent for writing as a tool for sowing into the Kingdom and carrying the Gospel further than a sermon alone can reach.
Michael G. Topping
Founder. Poet since the age of seven. Sworn New York City police officer.
Michael was born in 1984 in the Hollis section of Queens, New York, the twelfth of thirteen children born to Joyce E. Holmes, with seven sisters and five brothers. He grew up in Central Islip on Long Island and graduated from Central Islip High School in 2002.
He studied law at Suffolk Community College, and his commitment to service carried him into the New York City Police Department, where he was sworn in as an officer in 2007.
He started writing at seven years old. At thirteen he won his first poetry contest, and that settled the matter. Years of poetry slams sharpened the craft and widened the audience. He now channels that same gift into the ministry, writing to sow into the Kingdom and to support people in need.
